Eight years ago, I went through a life-changing experience. I suffered two brain aneurysms, one of which ruptured. Miraculously, I survived and without any impairment to my motor skills. However, it did affect the part of my brain which deals with emotions, desires, motivations, etc.
I eventually had to leave my job and also give up my horse, which meant I just basically sat around the house, eating and gaining weight. I had tried a few different ways to lose the weight and succeeded, however it always came back on after I stopped whatever plan I had been following. And none of those plans included exercising.
I knew that this time around I could not do this on my own. I needed someone to guide me and push me to get where I knew I needed to be. Which is why my decision to sign on with Fitness Concepts was the best thing I could have done for myself. When I went in to talk with Sam about the facility and my medical history, he was very understanding and said he knew just the right trainer for me.
Working with Kristine Yu has been wonderful. She can tell when I can push myself a little more, even if I don’t. However, she has never made me do anything that she wasn’t confident I could do. She is always so supportive and gives me such positive feedback when I accomplish another goal.
In the first 3 ½ weeks, I lost 13 lbs. and 7 ½ inches. That was all the encouragement I needed to know that I was on the right track. The nutritional guidance I have received from Sam has been so easy to understand and follow. People often ask what kind of diet that I am on, and it’s really nice to say that I’m not on a diet, that I’m just finally learning how to eat healthier.
After 3 months, I have lost 19.5 lbs. and a little over 11 inches. Aside from the great physical benefits I have achieved with Fitness Concepts, it has also helped me emotionally. It’s truly amazing how one’s physical condition can affect one’s mental condition, and vice versa.
I am sure that I could never have even gotten this far if I had gone to a regular gym and tried this on my own. And I can say with all honesty, that there has never been a morning that I have gotten up and not felt like going to work out with Kristine.
My experience with Sam and every one connected with Fitness Concepts has been everything I could have asked for. It has truly made a big difference in my life.
